A Live Comedy Show to Educate Workers on Nutrition

01 May 2012

On Saturday April 28th, comedians from a broadcast television network Cambodian Television Network (CTN) performed a live comedy show on the theme of workers’ nutrition in the Reatrei Kamsan (Entertaining Night) program.

The comedy show depicted some comedians as workers trying to balance their finances between spending money on healthy food and saving money to send it home to their families. A few workers in the performance who cared about health stated, “It is important that we [workers] eat healthily and ensure to have three main meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) per day”. One of the workers in the show Mr. Permis told his co-workers “Of course, we earn a low income. But if we try to save money by not eating breakfast or eating less nutritious food, we may feel unwell and weak. If we happen to get sick, we will spend money on medical treatment and may not be able to work.”

At the end of the show, each worker who has not been eating healthily pledges to do so. The evening’s show on Saturday 28 April was the first of four special episodes to be performed by the CTN comics.
